Before we start the context, let me tell you a small story. In 1870's there was a lady named Maria Montessori in Italy. She was a physician and was always curiously observing children. She designed a theory of educational approach that emphasizes individualized instruction and self-paced learning. It is based on the belief that children are naturally curious and capable of learning independently. She started an experiential learning for children with special needs. Children who had special need, were taught concepts using mainly their senses. Touch-feel, smell, sight/vision and taste. Everything they learned involved the involvement of their sense organs. At the end of their course, astonishing results were seen in children. Most of the children made remarkable growth not only in their academics but also developed excellent vocabulary and communication skills.

Seeing the tremendous success of the course, Maria Montessori decided that this education can also be imparted in regular children with regular needs. Various researchers began to produce thesis and documents that suggested the remarkable contribution of early childhood education in children. It is very important for children to achieve the developmental milestones. Under development of the toddlers' milestones may give raise to several issues like speech delay, hyperactivity, attention defect, poor eye contact, and concentration issues.

3-6 years of age is the most important period in a toddler's life. I cannot begin to express how important this phase is from so many dimensions. A lot of developmental delays can be reversed at this age. As days pass. it is difficult for children to reverse these conditions. The struggle is real. In my further blogs I will try to cover different activities which help in building different developmental areas in toddlers.
